Dr Wilcox’s studies started in 1991, completing a BA Physical Education degree at the University of Pretoria in 1993. She then completed her BSc (Med)(Hons) Exercise Science in Biokinetics in 1994 at the University of Cape Town. For the next two years Dr Wilcox worked at the Sports Science Institute in Newlands, and was involved in the cardiac rehabilitation and weight loss programmes. She also ran the hydrotherapy, focusing on general rehabilitation as well as spinal rehabilitation. Working half day for a chiropractor in Pinelands also doing back and neck rehabilitation, Dr Wilcox developed a keen interest in chiropractic, which she went on to complete in 2003 at the Witwatersrand Technikon and has been in private practice ever since.
Dr Wilcox runs a general practice – but has a keen interest in sports injuries, pregnancy and pediatrics.
Her treatments include a variation of the Diversified Technique/Thompson Drop Technique of adjusting the spine and extremity joints, as well as dry needling and fascial release. I also give ergonomic advice, including the benefits of correct exercise techniques, and choices of exercise.
